WHO ARE YOU?

I am an assistant psychologist here at We are human counselling, having completed my core studies of Psychology in my current undergraduate BSc BPS accredited degree at the University of Roehampton. After my degree I aim to complete my masters in order to become an educational Psychologist; working with children and families is a main passion of mine which is why developmental Psychology is the topic I am most interested in in the field. This passion is closely linked to my personality as I am a warm kind-hearted individual who enjoys helping people at any given chance. Therefore, learning and applying the information I gain about the development of a human’s life enables me to thoroughly understand individuals behaviours and use my communication skills to the best of my ability. I also have a strong passion for mental health; volunteering with vulnerable individuals in India in 2016 taught me so much and made me realise the true importance of Psychology. This is the reason I will be travelling to Indonesia in August 2020 to complete a placement based on positive mental health and broaden my experience with real life Psychology.

WHAT ARE YOUR CORE VALUES AS AN ASSISTANT PSYCHOLOGIST?

As an assistant psychologist, my core values center around trust and honesty as the role requires a huge amount of responsibility. I am highly dedicated to my role and always work hard in order to improve every day, which involves taking on feedback and applying it to specific situations. This is important as we want clients to be certain that they are in good hands and that we working as hard as we possibly can to help them.

Another core value for me is teamwork as it builds the foundation of the role; communicating with the other assistant psychologists is essential for us to accurately and efficiently carry out tasks. Working together as a team allows us to increase productivity and help one another out when needed. This leads me on to my desire to help the company grow. What inspires me about We are human counselling is the beliefs and values it holds surrounding holism, which involves recognising clients’ whole perspectives and treating them as human beings. This is an important aspect of the company which I believe as assistant psychologists we can push in order to enable the company to expand and reach its full potential.

WHAT DO YOU DO AT WE ARE HUMAN COUNSELLING?

At we are human counselling, there are wide variety of tasks to be completed by the team. After being clinically trained by a highly specialised psychologist, I began carrying out two main processes: consultations and assessments. A free consultation involves gaining an understanding of which areas client’s need support in and discussing potential treatment options with them, which is then followed by a clinical assessment which is designed to give the client an opportunity to express their concerns in order for us to successfully provide the correct therapy. Confidentiality is crucial when carrying out both consultations and assessments, therefore all information is kept strictly private and clients are frequently reassured of this. Adhering to the set BPS guidelines is also of high importance to ensure the correct standards are consistently being met.

I am also the marketing lead with a specific focus on advertising the company and upcoming events, such as workshops. This involves contacting various people about potential collaborations, creating advertisements to reach our target audience and carrying out market research. As the marketing lead it is also my responsibility to promote the company and upcoming events either online on social media or in public by posting leaflets. I have a strong passion for marketing and advertising which stemmed from my educational background in Media Studies, both at GCSE and A-Level. Additionally, I have had relevant work experience in marketing which enabled me to explore the concept further and apply it to my role at we are human counselling.

Some other aspects to my role involve working with admin to manage psychologist diaries, alongside any queries patients may have in relation to our services. By working with the multi-disciplinary team, I can create a smooth working environment for myself and the other assistant psychologists. I also conduct research and write up monthly company blog posts on differing psychological topics.

I welcome you to we are human counselling and look forward to working with you.
