WHO ARE YOU ?

I am a qualified integrative Counselling and CBT Therapist (MBACP Accredited), who has been practicing since 2012.  I worked in the mental health service (primary and secondary care) where I offered therapeutic support to a wide range of clients predominantly French and Arabic speakers who suffered from a host of complex mental health problems.

Prior to entering into the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy, I worked for 19 years in the NHS where I provided close support to the Management, Clinical, Complaint and Chaplaincy team.  Performing for years in a highly challenging and pressurised environment where I actively contributed to improve both staff and patients’ experience led me to reassess what I really wanted to achieve in life.  I initially trained as a Personal Life Coach and Stress Management Consultant and offered my support to individuals within and outside the NHS.  I then further trained as a Counselling and CBT therapist to help my clients address their deep emotional issues and develop better capacities to achieve their goals.

My background also includes extensive trainings, self-reflective work, projects and researches on mental health issues, PTSD, trauma and working with diversity.

HOW DO YOU WORK ?

My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is humanistic as the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the work I do with my clients. I draw on various psychotherapeutic approaches, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, CBT, Transactional Analyse, Gestalt and Jungian theoretical models.

As each person is unique with their own history and responds better to certain methods of psychological interventions. I assess and make insightful decisions about which modality to use to match the client’s specific needs to ensure that the therapeutic process evolves in the right direction and leads to a positive outcome

YOUR CORE VALUES WHAT ARE THEY ?

If you want to give lights to others, you have to glow yourself (Thomas S. Monson)

I believe that the maintenance of self-care, personal morals qualities and wellness as a therapist act as main therapeutic healing forces which enhance the client’s engagement and involvement.

I value integrity by being genuine, honest and opened with my clients about my methods of working and approaches used to assist them with their growth process.

My mission is to offer a safe, confidential and trusting therapeutic space for each client to be heard and validated whilst respecting their sense of autonomy to process their emotions at their own pace and gradually reach a state of balance.

WHY CHOOSE YOU AS A THERAPIST? WHAT IS IT ABOUT YOUR THERAPY THAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE?

As a trilingual English, French and Arabic speaker, I can provide a tailor made therapeutic service in those languages.  My approach reflects a great receptiveness to each client’s presenting issues, having experienced myself the different facets of what it feels being the same and different, I have a profound sensitivity to social, racial, gender, disability, religious and cultural diversity.

I believe that spiritual and religious values play a major part in human life and in my experience when used in therapy, can be powerful resources to work with.  This is where love, compassion, tolerance, hope and forgiveness once activated can enhance the client’s sense of wellbeing.

My life experience combined with my sense of wisdom and various trainings shaped my personality in a way that I naturally convey a deep sense of warmth, empathy and understanding towards each of my clients which make them feel well supported throughout their own self-exploring journey.

My work underpins the BACP code of ethics and reflects high duty of care and safety towards my clients.

WHAT THERAPIES DO YOU OFFER

As described above, I integrate different modalities in my approach, Person Centre, psychodynamic, CBT, Transactional Analyses, Gestalt and Transpersonal Therapy and adjust these according to the client’s needs.

The range of presenting symptoms I can help my clients include: depression, grief, loss and bereavement, anxiety, panic attacks, toxic stress, work related issues, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, sexual abuse, poor self-esteem, addictions, PTSD, trauma, childhood adversity, negative emotions and attachment disorder.

Other aspects I work with my clients are identity crisis and major life transitions.

In addition to Counselling therapy, I also offer the following approaches to address other specific issues:

Walking therapy: holding the therapy session outside while walking.

Personal life coaching: This is to help my clients to develop a clear vision through the formulation of their intention of what they wish to achieve.  Through the introduction of various coaching models I can help them analyse, assess, evaluate the different possibilities which would channel their efforts and attention into making the right choice, decision and steps that would lead to their realistic goal.

Holistic Stress Management Approach, this is to help my clients reduce the harmful effects of stress, draw their stress picture, produce a personalised stress protection plan to help them build stress and emotional resilience and adopt a healthier life style.

I offer short and long term therapy depending on the client’s presenting issues and needs.  I offer face to face therapy, skype, home visits and walking therapy.
